Explore a different island, culture, cuisine and landscape daily while on retreat! Spend 8 days, 7 nights sailing the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. You will also spend a day and night in the Croatian city of Split, the night before our ship departs. For this extraordinary Croatia Yoga Retreat we have the Labrador, a traditional wooden motor ship all to ourselves! We’ll visit unique and special islands, enjoy extraordinary Yoga practices on the ship’s deck, hike, eat, swim, drink local wine and make new friends.

In late September the weather will be in the 60s and 70s. The sea temperature will be in the low 70s.
Early Fall is widely thought to be the very best month for travel to Croatia due to the slightly cooler temps, warm water perfect for swimming and reduced crowds over the Summer high season.

Split to Dubrovnik Aboard the Labrador
Our retreat begins with a night in Split Croatia at the Hotel Cvita. After a delicious breakfast Saturday morning, you will depart for the port where we will board the Labrador for 7 days sailing, swimming, exploring islands, culture and the nautral wonders the Adriatic has to offer. Daily Yoga practices will prepare you for each day.

There are three accomodation options. Single cabin, double cabin and triple cabin. Single cabins are the most limited and triple cabins are priced for economy. You must be traveling in a group of three to book a triple cabin. Most meals and some tours are included. Please see the itenerary for more.

Croatia Yoga Retreat
Did you ever think that you could be one of those people that got to vacation on a private ship in a far away and exotic destination? The Labrador is a traditional wooden en-suite vessel with ample room for Yoga sessions, dining together, relaxing in the shade, and navigating to hidden coves for a swim. Croatia Yoga Retreat cabins are on the upper, main and lower decks. Upper and main cabins will be available in order of registration.

Explore Diocletian’s Palace
Check in to the Hotel Ctiva. Then take some time to explore Split utilizing the hotel’s free shuttle to the UNESCO listed, 1700 years old city centre of Split. More about Split

10:30 am Included transfer to the port to board the Labrador Gentle Travel Recovery Practice onboard
1 pm cruise along the Dalmatian coast towards Makarska whilst enjoying lunch. Afternoon swim at one of the wonderful beaches. For the adrenaline lovers, there’s an optional zipline ride over the Cetina river canyon. Overnight in Makarska, the famous tourist destination with many restaurants and bars and a beautiful promenade along the famous beach. Enjoy the magic of Makarska Riviera and be sure to take a walk along the city streets – with an abundance of churches and other cultural sites.

In the morning, cruise towards the next destination – the island of Brač, more precisely to the town of Bol, known for its famous Zlatni Rat beach (Golden Horn), a natural phenomenon that dominates the other beaches with its specific form.
After swimming break at the horn and lunch, we continue our journey towards Stari Grad on the Hvar island, the sunniest Adriatic island. Free afternoon to explore this unique town. The famous Stari Grad Field is the oldest in Croatia and the best-preserved example of an ancient Greek system of agriculture. Together with the old town, it is a part of world heritage protected by UNESCO. Overnight in one of the ports of Stari Grad, main or ferry port (2 km away) depending on availability in port.

Nature and Hvar Town

The next destination is the town of Hvar, a favourite destination for jet setters from all around the world. After lunch, we stop for swimming, relaxing and refreshment in the clear, crystal blue sea at nearby Paklinski islands. Arrive at Hvar in the afternoon hours followed by a guided tour (included) of this extraordinary town. Hvar offers many cultural and historical sites (Renaissance cathedral, the oldest communal theatre in Europe founded in 1612, Franciscan monastery, the Benedictine convent famous for their lace listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Spanjola fortress towering high above the town …) and many restaurants and bars open late into the night.

“The Mediterranean as it once was”

Early in the morning, we cruise towards the little Biševo island to visit the Blue cave, a magnificent natural phenomenon. As sometimes weather conditions can be very unpredictable, the possibility of our visit will depend on those conditions, however, you will be notified of this by the crew. Entrance to Blue Cave is to be paid on the spot (approx. EUR 14.- per person).
We continue towards the island of Vis, which was a strategic navy harbour due to its unique geographical position and as such closed to the public until recently. Because of its isolation, Vis has a special charm -‘the Mediterranean as it once was’ which makes it really interesting to see. Overnight is in the town of Vis, situated on the northern side of the island, developed near the remains of the ancient Issa, the first urban centre in Croatia. If interested, visit the remains of the Roman thermal Place, City museum or simply take a walk enjoying the view of beautiful ”Villae Rusticae” situated along the coast.

Food, wine and history

During breakfast, we depart towards Korčula, the birthplace of the famous explorer and adventurer Marco Polo. Surrounded by medieval walls, Korčula resembles a miniature Dubrovnik when approaching from the sea. It has more legends, tales, and monuments than you will find anywhere else.
Today, Korčula is the only place in the world where the Spanish medieval knight’s game – Moreška is still performed. Enjoy the numerous konobas / taverns, restaurants, cocktail bars, or nightclubs located within and around the city walls. Overnight in port.

Cruising continues towards one of the greenest Adriatic islands – the island of Mljet, where on the western part, the Mljet National Park is situated. Free time to enjoy the beauties of the National Park. Two salt lakes are connected to the sea by a narrow channel, take a boat ride to the St Mary isle in the Great Lake, where the old church and monastery are situated. Enjoy cycling around, canoeing, or swimming in the lakes. The cruise resumes towards Šipan, part of Elaphite islands near Dubrovnik, or towards Slano on the coastline. Both are small fishermen’s villages, in one of which we will stay overnight in the port and have the Captain’s dinner onboard

The pearl of the Adriatic

Early in the morning, we depart towards our final destination – a true pearl of the Adriatic. After lunch short swim stop. Join a guided tour of Dubrovnik (included). followed by an optional cable car ride up to Srđ mountain for spectacular views of the old town. We recommend a stroll along the city walls, 1940 meters in length with magnificent views of the old town of Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands. Overnight in the harbour Gruž.

Yoga Cruise 2022
Yoga Practices
With the exception of the first day at the Hotel Cvita, and our checkout day. we will practice Yoga each morning on the ship’s deck or in a suitable location on land. Practices will be customized to the needs and preferences of the group. Creative sequencing and strategies will be utilized to accommodate our somewhat unorthodox location. Mandy’s retreat practices are designed to help you inhabit your body truly to amplify the joy of travel and learning.
Classes will be 60-90 minutes long depending on the day. A Yoga equipment bag will be supplied to each student. The bag includes a Yoga mat, 2 blocks, 2 pillows and a towel.

Instructor/Host
Mandy is the owner and founder of Sound Method Yoga. She’s an experienced retreat leader, having led retreats in Costa Rica, Greece, Spain, Colorado, New Mexico and locally in Nebraska. Her classes are creative, expressive and woven through with poignant themes that make practice even more profound. An expert in Yin and Vinyasa styles, she empowers students to own their practice and revere their own size, shape and ability level. As a teacher of teachers she sheds light on anatomy and Yoga philosophy during practice in a way that allows you to truly embody your new learnings. As a Pain Care Yoga specialist, she infuses an understanding of neuroplasticity to her teaching that informs a novel and interoceptive experience for each student in their own way. Mandy is the host of The Yin Yoga Podcast

Cabin Options
All cabins are double cabins but a limited number have been set aside for single retreaters. If you book a double cabin you will share with one other retreater. Please let us know if you have a room mate in mind. If you book a triple cabin, you will share with 2 other retreaters. Due to the bed situation in these cabins, triple accommodation is only for groups of three that are travelling together.
