Introduction to Holistic Pain Care

So now you’ve learned some myths about pain, let’s talk about some truths. This information is the cornerstone of everything else you will learn this week. So sit back and have a listen!

Pain science education is incredibly powerful. New models for pain and treatments are focusing not so much on tissue issues, but the contributions of the nervous system, the immune system, social context, thoughts and beliefs. Pain education has emerged as a powerful tool for healing and restoring function and is now recognized by the NIH (National Institutes of Health).

I don’t want to overwhelm you here, so I’ve just included a brief introduction to pain science. Good pain education takes time, and is used in tandem with other techniques, but it’s really effective. So please know that this is just a tiny glimpse of the exciting world of evidenced based pain care.
