I just started reading “Poser, My life in 23 yoga poses” by Claire Dederer and so far I highly recommend it.  People tell me all the time that they are afraid to take a class as a beginner because they don’t want to be the only one struggling or worse, looking foolish.  Only in the most bizarre recesses of our human brains could we ever think someone dosen’t look foolish when ones butt is in the air or with a leg around their neck (ones own leg of course, otherwise it’s more of a private situation) or both.  Seriously, we all look ridiculous, some of us just own it.  Claire says:

Like everyone else I was terrified of a roomful of people who were good at it.  Little did I know that only very occasionally in yoga do you stumble into an entire roomful of people who are good at it.  And when you do, they often tun out to be a**holes.

 Ahhh, so true.

It’s not about how you look.  It’s about showing up…. and sticking your butt in the air….. and owning it!
